Remember in 2000, on the Friday before the election, when news came out that Bush had been involved in a DWI incident? This was major news at the time, and almost pushed the election into Gore's favor.
Well...its happened again, but you probably do not know about it. Hidden in the written headlines on MSNBC (losing out to an article pointing out that each candidate will likely be equally generous to the auto industry) and literally not even present on CNN's homepage is the news that Obama's aunt is living in the United States illegally. I'm sorry, what? Yes, his aunt...probably why we haven't heard about her in the campaign?
No matter where you stand on the immigration issue, this is a big deal. Even if you want our country flooded with people who have not earned citizenship...rendering our borders useless, our economy vulnerable to the effects of a cheap workforce, and our national security threatened while other citizens from around the world go through the immigration process fairly under the supervision of the government (one thing that government should actually be paid to do!), this is news. There is no denying the fact this is major, headline grabbing news, on the weekend leading up to what pundits say is the most important election in American history since the Great Depression. American citizens need to know this information because it is directly related to an issue that has been swept under the rug by the media and the candidates mainly due to the candidates similar stances. This information throws their immigration similarities off, and in my opinion, puts McCain at a clear advantage on this issue. The American people should know McCain is more apt to act non-biased on the immigration issue, and in effect, put "Country First."
This is a major break for McCain. How can we expect Obama to act fair on immigration reform if one of his own family members could be directly affected? I would love to hear the other side of this issue from one of my liberal friends in the media, but the article I read on the topic was pretty clear; Obama's aunt, Zeituni Onyango, was ordered to leave the United States four years ago after a United States immigration judged rejected her request for asylum. This reported by the Associasted Press (not exactly the most conservative of news agencies).
As always, I am appalled that major news organizations are sweeping this under their radars this morning. On top of CNN, the New York Times, Washington Post, and USA Today have decided this is not newsworthy. No mention of this on their front pages. Pathetic.
In case you were wondering where I was lucky enough to come across this information? Fox News! Special request; do not talk with me about politics unless you at least scan Fox News' website every day. This is not the first time this has happened; you are missing a big piece of the story otherwise.
