To sum it up....Americans are getting older. The government has promised more to its citizens than it will soon be able to afford...which will force the government to either cut benefits or raise taxes. If the government raises taxes...the American economy will lose its spunk...that feeling we can do whatever we want, that feeling of unlimited prosperity and confidence in the future.
What this article does not mention...on top of Americans getting older...Americans are increasingly becoming uneducated, and therefore unprepared to participate in the economy of the future. As immigrants pour into this country, who may receive benefits while not paying taxes, and take up a larger part of our population while not receiving a quality education, the United States will put itself at a further disadvantage economically. We must provide a quality education to all our citizens in order to compete for the jobs of the future.
The answers? Keep taxes low to grow the economy, rewarding risk-taking that produces prosperity and ideas that put America on the path of economic independence. Reduce the financial responsibility America has to its citizens. Divert the entitlement money we do provide toward education benefits to prepare our country for the economy of the future. Shut off the flow of illegals into our country through our borders! The bottom line - our current entitlement program, FDR's The New Deal, was proposed at a time when the American population was young and growing...times have changed. It is time to go back to the drawing board.
